Women of Color in STEM conference set to kick off Oct. 3 in Detroit

The 24th annual Women of Color (WOC) in STEM conference is scheduled for October 3-5 in Detroit, Michigan.
The multi-cultural event will feature speakers on a range of topics, including under-representation of women of color in STEM fields.
“Women make up more than half of the population of [the U.S.] and are receiving more than half of the college degrees, yet too many women in today’s workforce are trapped in low-paying and low-grade-level jobs,” Tyrone Taborn, says CEO of Career Communications Group, the company that publishes Women of Colour magazine, in a statement.

“Given the growing diversity of the current workforce, employers must commit not only to leveling the playing field but also to addressing those inequalities that limit women from achieving their full career potential.”
